Frequently asked questions and notes about GA4 landing pages
What is the difference between a "landing page" and a "landing page + query string?"
A "landing page + query string" is a URL with the address of the web page followed by a parameter beginning with a "? symbol after the web page address. Basically, "landing page" should be used since "landing page + query string" will result in separate data for each parameter, even for the same landing page.
Why the landing page is "(not set)"?
This occurs when a user has no information about the landing page. Specifically, if a user visits a website and then the session expires, and only subsequent events other than page views (page views) occur (e.g., page scrolling, file downloads, etc.), the user will not be recorded as to which page he/she landed on first, and will be marked "(not set)" will be displayed, since it will not be recorded which page the user landed on first.
Why is the landing page blank?
The blank space is gone these days, but it is basically the top page. If you check "landing page + query string" it will show "/".
How to check the next page on the landing page
By using the Conversion Path report in the Explore report, you can see which landing pages users enter and which pages they follow to convert.
